The figures come amid ongoing efforts by the Trump administration to intensify its crackdown on undocumented immigrants through a large-scale deportation campaign.

U.S. President Donald Trump had signed an executive order soon after assuming office, laying the groundwork for what has become one of the most sweeping deportation initiatives in American history. The program focuses on immigrants who have received final orders of removal from U.S. immigration courts but have not yet left the country.

According to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), approximately 1.445 million undocumented immigrants from various countries are currently slated for deportation. Among them, 1,365 Nepalis are on record for deportation, having exhausted legal protections such as Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or asylum.

The largest groups facing removal orders are from Honduras (261,651), Guatemala (253,413), Mexico (252,044), and El Salvador (238,222). Significant numbers have also been recorded from China (37,908) and India (17,940).

Nepali nationals who entered the U.S. after June 24, 2015, are particularly vulnerable, as they fall outside the protection window offered by TPS. In contrast, Nepalis who arrived before that date and are under TPS are currently shielded from immediate removal. However, if the TPS program were to be terminated, approximately 3,000 Nepalis could face deportation within six months.

So far, 3,500 Nepali nationals have received final deportation orders from U.S. immigration courts. Of these, around 2,000 have voluntarily returned to Nepal. The remaining 1,500 are still under removal orders, although many are temporarily protected under TPS.

Overall, it is estimated that the U.S. hosts over 10 million undocumented immigrants, with Mexico accounting for the largest share at 5.2 million, according to the Center for Migration Studies. India ranks fifth with approximately 400,000 undocumented individuals, followed by the Philippines (300,000) and China (241,000). Nepal ranks 26th, with an estimated 36,000 illegal residents, comprising 0.3% of the total undocumented immigrant population. It is followed by Russia, also with 36,000 undocumented residents.

Among South Asian countries, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Pakistan are placed 39th, 42nd, and 52nd, respectively, on the list of undocumented immigrant populations in the U.S.

Last week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his government’s willingness to cooperate with the U.S. in repatriating approximately 18,000 Indian nationals living illegally in the country.

The data highlights growing global concerns around migration enforcement and the fate of thousands of families who have settled abroad without legal status.

Kathmandu | International Desk The United States has listed 1,365 Nepali nationals among individuals residing in the country illegally and…

[4,6,1

post-10460","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-financial","category-home","category-special
["GET
