The much-anticipated Nepali film Koshedhunga was officially launched on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivaratri, marking the beginning of its production with a ceremonial “muhurat” shot. The film is directed by Saroj Poudel, acclaimed for his work on the historical blockbuster Purna Bahadur’s Sarangi, which had grossed an impressive Rs 500 million in the domestic box office.
The film will be produced by renowned theatre artist and playwright Kishore Anurag, alongside Previl Kandel, with Dinesh Khadka serving as the executive producer. Speaking at the launch event held in Chyasal, Producer Anurag shared that filming has already commenced in Kathmandu and will continue for about a week before the team moves to Syangja to complete the remaining schedule.
Suraksha Panta will take the lead in this female-centric drama, joined by a strong ensemble cast including Aryan Sigdel, Saroj Khanal, Vishal Pahadi, Shekhar Chapagain, Siru Bista, Uddhav Sapkota, Sandhya Rana, Savita Regmi, Sabin Kattel, and Bikash Khanal. In addition to producing, Anurag will also serve as the film’s creative director.
Presented by Naradevi Films, Koshedhunga boasts a seasoned technical team with Babu Shrestha as director of photography, Surendra Poudel as editor, and music by Rhythm Kandel and Ashish Abiral. The film’s casting has been handled by Subalmani Sapkota.
Given the monumental success of Purna Bahadur’s Sarangi, expectations for Koshedhunga are running high. The film is slated for release in 2082 BS, and the production team is optimistic that it will make a strong impact on the national cinema landscape.
