Himal Hub / The collection of the voter list, which had been suspended for the House of Representatives elections, is set to resume from today.
The Election Commission had halted the voter registration process on Mangsir 6 in preparation for the parliamentary elections. A meeting of the Commission on Chaitra 18 decided to restart the process. According to Joint Secretary and spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the previously suspended program will now come back into operation from today.
The Commission has introduced a system allowing Nepali citizens who have obtained a National Identity Card number to register themselves in the voter list through an online platform using their ID details.
For those not yet enrolled in the National Identity Card system, applicants will need to fill out an online form through the Commission’s pre-enrolment system. They must then visit the provincial or district election office in person to provide biometric data, including photographs and fingerprints.
Spokesperson Bhattarai added that applications can also be submitted online to correct errors in the voter list, remove duplicate entries, and update records such as deaths or migration.
Voters will also be able to correct their name, address, and other personal details to match their citizenship records. Additionally, if there are multiple polling centers within the same ward, voters can request to transfer their registration to a more convenient location.
The Election Commission has urged all eligible citizens to actively participate in the voter registration and update process.
