Government employees will now receive their salaries within 15 days.

Himal Hub / The government has introduced a significant change in the salary payment system for civil servants, deciding to shift from a monthly payout to a biweekly system, under which employees will receive their salaries every 15 days.

The Ministry of Finance implemented the new provision through a ministerial-level decision on Baisakh 4. According to the ministry, the system will be gradually rolled out across government bodies, committees, commissions, and public enterprises. The Office of the Financial Comptroller General has already been instructed to make the necessary administrative and technical preparations for its implementation.

The ministry described the move as part of efforts to improve financial management and strengthen liquidity flow in the economy. The change is also aimed at reducing long waiting periods associated with monthly salary payments and ensuring more regular income for employees.

Officials believe that the new system could help stabilize cash flow in the market, with a likely direct impact on the retail sector and the market for daily consumer goods.
