Himal Hub / A total of 89 passengers stranded in a microbus in the flooded Roshi River were safely rescued following a sudden surge of water on Monday night.
The passengers were trapped mid-river after flash flooding swept through the area. A joint rescue operation by the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Police successfully evacuated both the vehicle and its occupants.
District Police Chief SP Komal Shah confirmed that all passengers were rescued unharmed and sent onward to their destinations. He said the rescue teams used ropes and rafting boats to carry out the operation under challenging conditions.
The rescue mission involved a coordinated team led by SP Shah, along with SP Madhav Regmi of the Armed Police Force’s 15th Battalion, and personnel from the Nepali Army.
Heavy rainfall and flooding have also damaged several sections of the BP Highway, disrupting vehicular movement in the region.
In a separate incident, 35 students trapped in a school bus in Shreekhandapur, Kavrepalanchok, were also rescued safely by security personnel from the Armed Police Force’s 15th Battalion following intense rainfall.
