Anjan Shrestha Elected as President of the FNCCI

Himal Hub / Anjan Shrestha has officially taken charge as the president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) from today. As per the federation’s statute, the senior vice president automatically assumes the role of president, bringing Shrestha into leadership.

Shrestha has been associated with the FNCCI for over two decades, gaining experience by working across different levels within the organization. His involvement in areas such as tax policy, industrial promotion, and employer-related issues has raised expectations that the private sector’s agenda will move forward in a more organized and effective way during his tenure.

With the new leadership in place, business stakeholders are hoping for clear plans on tax reform, promotion of production-based industries, export growth, and better labor market management. At a time when the economy is facing challenges like slowdown, declining investment, and trade imbalances, there is also growing pressure on the FNCCI to play a more active role.

From a business perspective, Shrestha is associated with the Laxmi Group, which has investments in manufacturing, trade, automobiles, and the steel industry. His experience ranges from the authorized distribution of Hyundai vehicles to steel production and assembly, giving him a practical understanding of industrial policy.

In the coming days, much attention will be on how effectively the FNCCI, under his leadership, coordinates with the government and translates private sector demands into concrete policies.
