Himal Hub / Gagan Thapa has called on all citizens to play a responsible role in protecting and strengthening Nepal’s federal democratic republic.
In a message issued on the occasion of Republic Day 2083, Thapa stated that safeguarding and institutionalizing the historic achievements earned through the sacrifices, dedication, and struggles of the Nepali people has become an urgent national responsibility.
Recalling that the republic was established following the success of the historic People’s Movement of 2006/07 (2062/63 BS), which was fueled by extraordinary public sacrifice and struggle, Thapa emphasized the need to further strengthen the country’s democratic governance system.
He said that by consolidating the existing political system, Nepal can move toward becoming a civilized, prosperous, happy, and developed nation. Thapa also expressed confidence that Republic Day would inspire renewed enthusiasm and commitment among all Nepalis toward building a just and equitable society founded on democratic values, norms, traditions, and culture.
Similarly, Bhishmaraj Angdembe, leader of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party, also extended Republic Day wishes through a separate statement. He stressed that only through the protection of the Constitution and the institutional strengthening of Nepal’s federal democratic republican system can the country achieve lasting prosperity, stability, and national progress.
