Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has declared that the current government will move forward by confronting and overcoming the deep-rooted challenges of inequality, poverty, and corruption. Addressing a special ceremony at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel on the occasion of National Democracy Day 2081, he emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening democracy while ensuring transparency and accountability.
Highlighting the government’s strategy, PM Oli stated, “By empowering our youth, we aim to lead the country toward prosperity. Thanks to the light of democracy, we’ve been able to initiate fast public services through digital means, making government services more efficient and transparent.”
He further expressed confidence in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, asserting that every moment, possibility, and capability is being put to good use in pursuit of the national aspiration for a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
PM Oli also reiterated the government’s goal of upgrading Nepal from the status of a Least Developed Country by 2026, noting that democracy provides the foundation for improving economic indicators and ensuring sustainable development.
“Our progress lies within the open space of democracy,” he said, adding that despite rising public expectations and mounting challenges, the state is moving forward in harmony with institutional strength and national capabilities.
Calling youth the future of the nation, PM Oli noted that the government has prioritized access to education, healthcare, employment, and entrepreneurship. “We have launched startup programs to cultivate a culture of innovation and enterprise,” he said.
He urged all citizens to contribute collectively to good governance, development, prosperity, and public well-being, reaffirming the national mission of effective administration and orderly governance.
Recalling his vision of “complete democracy,” PM Oli distinguished it from mere democratic freedoms. “Where democracy advocates freedom of organization and expression, complete democracy ensures access to rights, opportunities, equality, social justice, security, and dignity for all.”
He concluded by affirming that the government is sincerely working to fulfill people’s basic human and biological needs through inclusive and comprehensive national development.
