Tourist arrivals in Nepal exceeded 120,000 in March

Himal Hub / Nepal received 120,516 international tourists in March 2026, reflecting a continued strong recovery in the country’s tourism sector, according to the Nepal Tourism Board. The figure represents a 94.6 percent rebound compared to March 2019, before the pandemic, when Nepal recorded 127,351 arrivals.

India remained the leading source of visitors, with 25,728 tourists, accounting for 21.3 % of total arrivals. China followed with 11,220 visitors (9.3 %), while Srilanka contributed 10,759 (%). The United States recorded 7,974 arrivals (6.6 %), and Myanmar 6,020 visitors (5 %).

By region, South Asia made up the largest share of arrivals at 35.4 percent, followed by other Asian countries at 27.7 percent. Europe accounted for 17.3 percent, the Americas 8.6 percent, Oceania 4.3 percent, the Middle East 1.4 percent, and Africa 0.2 percent, with other regions contributing 4.9 percent.

The Nepal Tourism Board stated that the data highlights strong regional performance, particularly from South Asia and other parts of Asia, as Nepal continues to consolidate its recovery and reinforce its position as an emerging global tourism destination.
