No immediate improvement in weather; rain likely throughout the week

Immediate improvement in weather is not expected, as widespread rain and snowfall are likely across Nepal throughout the week, according to meteorologists.

Meteorologists have said there will be no significant improvement in the current weather conditions anytime soon. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, rainfall is likely across the country throughout the week, with Gandaki Province expected to be the most affected.

Rain and snowfall are forecast in the Terai, hilly, and mountainous regions of Gandaki all week, with chances of heavy precipitation in one or two places. Experts say that even if the rain briefly stops at times, it is likely to resume again.

Rain has already been continuing in several districts since yesterday. Meteorologist David Dhakal stated that thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely in various parts of the country throughout the week.

By Tuesday, moderate rainfall is expected in many areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as much of Madhesh Province. Some locations in these regions may also experience heavy rain. In Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, however, only a few places are likely to receive moderate rainfall.

From Wednesday to Thursday, light to moderate rain is expected in a few areas of the Terai across all provinces.

Hilly regions will also see continued rainfall this week. Until Tuesday, many areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, along with some parts of Karnali and Sudurpashchim, are likely to receive moderate rain. Similar conditions, though less widespread, are expected from Wednesday to Thursday.

Heavy rain is possible in one or two places in Gandaki throughout the week, and in Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces until Tuesday.

In the Himalayan regions, snowfall or rain is also likely throughout the week. From Sunday to Tuesday, many areas in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini, along with some parts of Karnali and Sudurpashchim, may see moderate snowfall or rain. After Wednesday, this is expected to continue in a few locations.

Currently, rainfall is ongoing in all provinces except Madhesh and Sudurpashchim, with moderate rain being recorded in Lumbini and Gandaki. There is also a chance of heavy rainfall in one or two places in these provinces this afternoon.

Meteorologists have advised the public to stay updated with weather forecasts before planning any activities.

In the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall was recorded in Musikot, Gulmi, with 86.6 mm. Heavy rain was also reported in Devghat, Deurali and Dumkauli in Nawalpur, and Asaraghat in Achham.
